Throughout the recruitment process and beyond, we work closely with businesses of all sizes to:

  • create stronger, more inclusive workplaces, and
  • provide practical support to employers.

Connect to Work can help your organisation attract, recruit and retain talented individuals who may face barriers to employment. They may face these barriers due to health conditions, disabilities or other challenges.

Our employment specialists can:

  • help to match you with candidates to save time and recruitment costs, and
  • provide hands-on support and guidance when candidates start in a role.

We can support you with:

  • understanding any reasonable adjustments needed,
  • communication strategies,
  • balancing peoples’ needs with your own business requirements, and
  • becoming a Disability Confident Employer.

We continue to work alongside both employers and employees after recruitment. This is to help placements succeed and support long-term employment outcomes.

We can work with you to match participants with suitable open market jobs paying minimum wage or more.

We will also stay in regular contact. You’re never on your own.

Taking part in the programme has many benefits to employers. For example, we can help you:

  • Access a diverse and untapped talent pool.
  • Identify candidates whose skills meet your business needs.
  • Reduce recruitment time and costs.
  • Understand and implement reasonable adjustments.
  • Support new employees during induction and onboarding.
  • Retain valued staff who may need more support to remain in work.
  • Introduce a supportive workplace culture.
  • Boost your reputation as an inclusive employer.

Studies of supported employment have also found that employing people with disabilities can:

  • potentially increase productivity,
  • increase customer diversity,
  • reduce staff turnover, and
  • improve work environments.

By working with Connect to Work, your organisation can strengthen its workforce while making a positive difference.

Reasonable adjustments

Reasonable adjustments are changes an employer makes to remove or reduce a disadvantage related to someone’s disability. These adjustments are a legal requirement we can help you with.

Reasonable adjustments:

  • are specific to an individual person,
  • can be for any disability (physical or mental health), including long-term health conditions, and
  • can cover any area of work.

What is ‘reasonable’ depends on each situation. We can help you with:

  • identifying any adjustments needed, and
  • making adjustments effectively.

These are often no-or low-cost and can be simple to set up.

Did you know?

Studies show there is little to no difference between sick leave taken by employees on supported employment programmes, compared to those not on supported programmes.

Employer case studies

One of our most successful experiences involved hiring a participant with a learning disability. The process began with an in-depth job analysis conducted by an Employment Coach, ensuring they understood both the role and the unique needs of the candidate. This analysis defined the job expectations and suggested how best to accommodate the employee’s requirements. This personalised approach ensured that our new employee felt empowered and confident in their role.

The continual support provided to both the employee and our team has been instrumental in fostering an environment conducive to growth and productivity. This ongoing support ensures that both the individual and the team benefit from a well-rounded understanding of each other’s needs and expectations.

The loyalty displayed by our supported employee has not only strengthened our team but has also instilled a deeper commitment to diversity and inclusion across the organisation.
